WESLEY’S Roots
The Wesley Series: From One Angler’s Idea to a Whole Family of Jackets
If you spend much time chasing kokanee, trout, or salmon, you already know the story: by mid-season your boat is fishing great, but your tackle storage is a wreck. Big flashers and dodgers stacked in a pile, leaders wrapped around everything, and that “one” combo that always gets bit is never where you thought you left it.
That mess is exactly what the Wesley Series was built to fix.
How the Wesley Was Born
The Wesley Series started with a request from a customer down in California named Wesley. He reached out and asked if there was a way to keep his dodgers or flashers and the lures that run behind them together in one system—not all crammed in the same pocket, but organized as matching sets so he could grab-and-go when the bite was on.
He sent me a few sketches and ideas, and I went to the sewing machine. After some trial and error, I took the dodger and flasher sleeves I was already making and combined them with our single lure covers. The simple but smart twist was sewing a lure pocket right on top of each sleeve pocket. That way, the flasher or dodger lives in the main pocket, and the lure rides in its own clear cover above it. One rig per lane, ready to fish.
And just like that, the Wesley Series was born.
Wesley Series 7103 – Dodger and Lure Jacket
The Wesley Series 7103 Dodger and Lure Jacket lets you keep your dodgers and lures together in one handy, ready-to-fish setup. This sleeve has 8 pockets that are 2¾” x 6″ to hold your 5″ metal dodgers, with 6½” x 6½” lure covers sewn right on top of each pocket so every dodger and its matching lure stay paired up.
Built on our #6208 eight-pocket open sleeve, we turn it into a Wesley by adding our #3 lure cover to each pocket. Thanks to Wesley’s idea for an easier way to travel and store complete rigs, you can now have 8 full setups ready to clip onto your rod as soon as the bite turns on. The 7103 is all about keeping your dodgers and the lures that run behind them together in one tidy, boat-friendly package.
Wesley Series 46815 – Bigger Pockets, Bigger Options
As more anglers started using the Wesley, the next question was obvious: “Can you make one for bigger dodgers and flashers?” That’s where the Wesley Series 46815 Dodger and Lure Jacket comes in.
The #46815 Wesley Series Dodger and Lure Jacket pairs your dodgers and lures together so each setup is ready to fish, just like the 7103, but with more room. These jackets have a mesh back with 8 open pockets, each 3½” wide x 9½” high, with 8½” x 8½” clear covers sewn on top of each pocket. Velcro at the top and bottom keeps the jacket closed, and a carry handle plus grommets let you hang it or snap it into our binders—it will fit our #32 large binder. This sleeve uses the same pocket size as our #46 8- and 16-pocket dodger jackets, so if you already use those, the 46815 will feel right at home in your system.
Wesley Series 7515 – 6-Pocket Flasher and Lure Jacket
For even bigger gear and serious spread options, the Wesley Series 7515 6-Pocket Flasher and Lure Jacket is built to handle the heavy hitters. It has 6 open sleeve pockets, each 4¼” x 12″, made to hold large flashers, with six 8½” x 8½” clear covers sewn on top so your matching lures have their own separate home.
Just like the rest of the Wesley family, your flasher rides in the sleeve pocket and your lure goes in the clear cover above it—together as a set, but not jammed into the same pocket. That simple detail makes it much easier to store, rig, and manage your tackle, especially when you are running big flashers and longer leaders and need to swap setups quickly without dealing with a bird’s nest of gear.
Why the Wesley Works on the Water
Most of us start the season with good intentions: leaders wrapped, flashers stacked, everything in its place. A couple of hot bites, a few quick swaps, and by mid-morning it looks like a tackle bomb went off. The Wesley system is designed around how you actually fish, not how you wish you fished.
- Each pocket is a “parking spot” for one complete combo.
- You can pre-rig your favorite sets at home, then slide each dodger or flasher into its sleeve and the matching lure into the cover above it.
- On the water, there is no hunting for that one lure that goes behind that one blade—they never got separated in the first place.
Is the Wesley Series Right for You?
If you:
- Run multiple colors, sizes, or styles of dodgers and flashers
- Have a few “confidence” combos you always want ready to go
- Are tired of leaders tangled around swivels and hooks buried in mesh
…then the Wesley Series was built with you in mind. From the compact 7103 to larger jackets like the 46815 and 7515, each one is designed to keep your dodgers/flashers and lures together, organized, and ready to fish the moment the rod loads up
